Breath Consciousness Practices
Consult a trusted healthcare professional before beginning any breathing program
At various times of the day tune in and be aware of your breath without changing it.
Once you become consistent with the above practice, add in some gratitude for your magnificent breath. Marvel at how amazing it is as you follow your breath cycle for a few moments. Be thankful for all it does in each and every moment.
Notice when you are mouth breathing and see if you can switch to nose breathing.
Practice nose breathing for a set amount of time with awareness on the volume of your breath. Is it heavy or light? Are you feeling breath hunger?
Practice diaphragm breathing for a set amount of time. Can you feel your belly rising and falling with your breath? Is your diaphragm able to relax on the exhale? Are you overusing accessory muscles? Lying down can support this practice.
Practise 4:4 balance breathing through your nose utilising your diaphragm with awareness on the volume of your breath. There is a practice video below.
